Smoked Fish Stew Recipe

Ingredients
Bacon (1/4lb or 125 gms), onion (1), sweet red pepper (1), all purpose flour (2tbsp), table cream (1/4c optional), smoked fish such as cod, haddock or mackerel (1/2lb), freshly ground black pepper (1/2tsp), dil seed (1tsp), chicken broth (3c), curry powder (1tsp), peeled potatoes (4small), celery stalk (3).

Method of preparation:-
smoked-fish-stewTake bacon strips, cut them into 1-inch pieces. Take a large saucepan. Place it over medium heat. Cook it by turning it occasionally until get crispy. Then take off the pan from the heat and keep it aside. Meanwhile coarsely chop the celery, onion and sweet potatoes. Discard all but 2 tablespoon of fat from pan. Add the chopped vegetables and cook them for about 5 minutes over medium heat by stirring it often until the vegetables get soften. Meanwhile cut the potatoes into 1/3-inch pieces. Sprinkle the curry powder and flour over the vegetables and mix them for about 2 minutes. Whisk the broth in it and keep it to boil. Now add the diced potatoes, dill and pepper. Cut the fish into large pieces and add to stew along with bacon. Cover thwe pan, reduce the heat and keep it to simmer for about 15 minutes or until the potatoes get tender. Mix the cream if desired. Serve the stew in the same day it is made.
